My aim as a diarist/blogger is to create an open, evolving record of a life weaving together memory, learning, creativity, and observation — so that others can recognise parts of their humanity in mine.

It’s my lifelong experiment in recording a life — a public diary that has grown from a 13-year-old’s notebook in 1975 to an archive of memory, history, dreams, and creations. If nothing else, it’s my prompt, ‘The Contents of My Brain’.

For me: It’s the continuity of a diary, now enriched by the context of hindsight, connection, and the ability to weave together all the “spin-off” selves into one living whole.

For you: It’s a map of what it’s like to live attentively and reflectively across time — and an encouragement to see that every experience, skill, and passion can be part of one story.

For the future: It becomes a time capsule of a particular human mind across the transition from analogue to digital life, diary to blog, solitary record to shared presence.
