What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I’m a Trickster at heart. I played and sang my own songs in French live on French radio, won a national art prize at eight with a piece then exhibited in Norway, and sat my Physics O’ Level with a safety pin in my ear, knowing the invigilators couldn’t say or do a thing to interrupt. I’ve always had an antagonistic curiosity that might have been better served at St Martins or RADA than at Balliol, Oxford — an artist-performer who secretly wishes he’d been born a decade or two earlier to join the Rolling Stones, or front the Spiders from Mars or Roxy Music.
