What’s your biggest dream?

The author age seven, fourteen, eighteen and twenty seven.

My biggest dream is to complete the great work I’ve been carrying inside me for most of my life: a body of writing that weaves together my diaries, memories, dreams, photographs, history and fiction into something honest, original and enduring. I want to create something that still has meaning long after I’m gone, not because it’s about me, but because it says something universal about memory, growing up, family, love, place and the lives we all lead.

More than anything, I want to prove to myself that I can finish it. Completing that life’s work would mean far more to me than fame or wealth. If it found readers and continued to speak to people decades from now, that would be the greatest reward I could imagine.
