Fifty years ago: Friday, 21st May 1976

(Sedbergh, Age 14)

I had hooked my rug from my chest of drawers to the end of my metal bedstead to create a canopy to shield me from the morning sun; it was inadequate. I woke early. 

Divinity: Man Born to be King. And a test on our prep, in which I did well, only, I’m sure, because I find a good story easy to recall. 

PE: Bat. Indoor cricket nets. I can neither catch, throw, nor hit a ball of any size. 

Music Lesson: I did a flute duet and scales. I have Grave V, so the decision is whether to press on with further grades. 

Break: Go to Housemaster Squeaky Pete. 

Ring Mum, engaged. Get Whitehaven.

Geography: take notes on the Volga dam.

Latin: revision 

Lunch

Ring Mum, she’s out.

Physics: test 12/18 

Swim: four flights, then Waterpolo.

Ring Mum. The dentist is still set for Thursday, the 26th.

Supper 

Geography Prep: Venn Diagrams.

Maths Prep: O-level probability.
