Fifty Years Ago: Tuesday, 8th June 1976

(Sedbergh School, age 14)

Wake up early. Very bright in the morning. Got up early to write out French Grammar notes on passé imperfait.

German: test back, good.

French: average test, everyone else high marks

Geography: we do oil and have a filmstrip.

Break: still no letters! Meat off, so chuck it. Coffee and rock buns.

Maths: 8/20, not good! For one mistake. For not doing my calculations on the ‘neat sheet’.

Physics: reading. Talk to AGM.

Draw.

Lunch.

Cricket: get off it, as I can send AH along as my substitute.

Swim: do wind breaths – a front crawl breathing drill where swimmers “snap” the breath quickly like catching wind, then relays.

Grubber: tuck.

Life-saving 200m.

Projects: design record rack.
