What’s one habit that has improved your life the most?

Excerpt from a 13 year old boys diary
Age 13.A first year diary entry – all my teens, most days for seven years

Keeping a diary. Started age 13. Wrote it daily for twenty years. Nothing fancy for the first eight or so years – just a few lines. Then it became a page of A4. At times a day could fill many pages.

I knew I’d start reading them back at some point.

As a post-graduate student I was introduced to the idea of reflection. It’s a powerful learning tool to think through what you are learning. Of course you have notes, but a diary reflects on something else – what you think matters.

The journaling habit morphed into a dream diary – a peculiar study of the subconscious.

I added a photo journal for a season working in the Alps during my gap year.

Writing is often a useful habit in many ways: I developed a fast, fluid handwriting style.
