What was the last live performance you saw?
The last live performance I saw was an unforgettable open-air set by Nile Rodgers and CHIC at the Brighton Valley Festival Series in Brighton on 9 July 2023. It was one of those perfect long summer evenings that gradually turned into a communal celebration.
My wife, some family friends and I spent the afternoon drifting between different tents and smaller gigs before heading toward the main stage. By the time Nile Rodgers & CHIC came on, the atmosphere was electric — thousands of people dancing in the sunset. We managed to get close to the front, which made it feel incredibly immersive.
The set was packed with classics like Le Freak and Good Times, as well as songs Nile Rodgers produced or co-wrote for other artists, including Get Lucky and Cuff It. What struck me most was how timeless the music felt — and how much it connected me to the likes of David Bowie, while several generations all sang and danced together.
I’d taken my 360 camera with me, so I captured immersive photos and videos of the crowd, stage, lights and atmosphere. Looking back at them now, they still carry that sense of warmth, movement and sheer joy that great live music creates.
